FAQ
The String Quartet:
A String Quartet is an ensemble of two violins, a viola and a cello. The standard string quartet is widely seen as one of the most important forms in chamber music, with most major composers, from the late 18th century onwards, writing string quartets. Composers such as Beethoven, Mozart and Brahms wrote for this type of ensemble. However, Haydn is considered the “father of the string quartet”.
During the last decades, string quartets have become a sign of tradition and elegance, not only because of the beautiful aesthetics of the string instruments, but for smooth, romantic and refined sound that matches perfectly and adapts to any kinds of rooms, given the proper acoustic conditions. Popular music has also used this format of instrumentation for ballads, rock or techno recordings.
Fitting the music of New Orleans String Quartet in a Wedding Ceremony.
The structure that has proved most popular to patrons in the past is the following:
1. Background music of your choice for 10 to 15 minutes before the ceremony.
2. Ceremony (This really varies according to civil or religious traditions): Bridal Processional, Vows, Communion, Recessional. It is recommended that a script of the ceremony is handed in before-hand. We do not attend wedding rehearsals.
3. Directly after the wedding ceremony, there is the option of playing further music up to 10 minutes if the guests mingle.
The reception has a simpler structure. We can provide light dinner music before a band takes over. However, reception is generally considered a second service and extra fees can apply.
